And relax…. « Mellie Lang
It was like pass the parcel hundreds and hundreds of times. I would unwrap one layer, then another then I still didn’t know what it was and finally wrapped the last layer, it would have been cool to video some of my reactions when each object was revealed. There we’re moments of joy as I played the story of each item through my mind, like ‘ahh my Steve gave me this for my birthday’ or ‘my friend gave me this when I got married’ stuff like that, and then there was the ‘why did we bring this?’ and ‘oh no as an object brought back memories I would rather forget’ you get a whole lives memories and emotions in one go, I didn’t cry, lots of smiling and laughing so I’m a lucky gal.

Georgia Woman With Flesh-Eating Disease Celebrates Small Victories
Aimee Copeland, the Georgia student who lost her leg to a rare flesh-eating infection after a zip-line injury , knows she’s lucky to be alive, according to her family.
Although the 24-year-old remains in intensive care at an Augusta hospital, relying on a ventilator to breathe, she’s smiling, laughing and mouthing, “I love you.”
“I believe we’ve had victory over death here,” Copeland’s father, Andy Copeland, told “Good Morning America.”
“And that’s not something that happens every day.”
Medications designed to keep Copeland calm have blurred her memory of the May 1 zip-line accident near the Little Tallapoosa River that cut open her calf, inviting the life-threatening infection that claimed her leg and threatens to take her fingers.
“I don’t know that she’s aware yet that she’s lost her left leg,” said Andy Copeland, anticipating the bittersweet day when his daughter is strong enough to learn details of the accident. “It’s going to be sweet because she finally, we can communicate with her. But at the same time, it’s going to be bitter because there will be certain things revealed to her that will be painful.”
Describing the revelation as a moment of “horror and depression,” Andy Copeland asked family and friends to pray that his daughter “not be focused her physical being,” he wrote in a blog post .

Obama: JPMorgan Is ‘One of the Best-Managed Banks’
Just hours after a top JPMorgan Chase executive retired in the wake of a stunning $2 billion trading loss, President Obama told the hosts of ABC’s “The View” that the bank’s risky bets exemplified the need for Wall Street reform.
“JPMorgan is one of the best-managed banks there is. Jamie Dimon, the head of it, is one of the smartest bankers we got and they still lost $2 billion and counting,” the president said. “We don’t know all the details. It’s going to be investigated, but this is why we passed Wall Street reform.”
The full interview airs on “The View” Tuesday on ABC at 11 a.m. ET
While a powerhouse like JPMorgan might be able to weather an error that the bank’s own CEO called “egregious,” the president questioned what might happen to smaller institutions in similar situations.
“This is the best, or one of the best-managed banks. You could have a bank that isn’t as strong, isn’t as profitable making those same bets and we might have had to step in,” Obama said. “That’s exactly why Wall Street reform’s so important.

Against Me! Rocker Tom Gabel Comes Out as Transgender
Gabel tells the mag that he’s considering gender-reassignment surgery and will soon begin the transition by taking hormones and undergoing electrolysis.
The 31-year-old, who has a wife and a 2-year-old daughter, says he’s been suffering from gender dysphoria for years and explains that “growing up, my experience with transsexualism was nothing but shame.”
He plans to remain married but will now change his name to Laura Jane Grace.
“For me, the most terrifying thing about this was how she would accept the news,” he says of his wife, Heather . “But she’s been super-amazing and understanding.”
Gabel also adds that he’s prepared for the challenges that lie ahead. “I’m going to have embarrassing moments, and that won’t be fun,” he explains, but hopes that “people will understand and…be fairly kind.”
The Florida-born musician formed Against Me! in the late ’90s, and the band developed a fan following with the 2002 release Reinventing Axl Rose

Reggae royalty the Wailers will usher in the summer season May 25 at Sammy’s …
Setting the bar higher is now the norm in an Atlantic City striving to become a more multifaceted, year-round destination.
Sammy (Hagar’s) Beach Bar has shown it’s on board by bringing in the band that began the reggae revolution in America over 40 years ago — The Wailers.
Sammy’s will be open the weekend of May 18-20, in tandem with Hagar’s band Chickenfoot playing the House of Blues that Friday night, May 18, then the Wailers will kick off Sammy’s summer season and daily schedule through Labor Day with a special Friday, May 25, performance at 8pm.
Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh and brothers Aston “Family Man” Barrett and Carlton Barrett formed the Wailers’ nucleus in 1969. In 1974 they began touring the world as Bob Marley and the Wailers, then underwent several personnel changes following Marley’s death in 1981.

'The Voice' Recap: Jermaine Paul Wins Season Two | Movies News …
?
It seems as though people who don't love opera singing are about to be disappointed; Chris Mann dwarfs the other finalists on audience applause when they're introduced. When the judges are trotted out, Blake continues the pointing-at-his-own-head thing that has served him in good stead all season. Why fix it if it ain't broken?
“I thought Tony's song was fire,” Adam says of his contestant's controversial “99 Problems” during an appraisal of the previous night's show. This being the most literal-minded show ever, the statement itself is supplemented by actual fire. A quick survey of Jermaine Paul 's staggering rendition of “I Believe I Can Fly” reveals that he was indeed better than Juliet in this final round. Could that be enough to put him over the top?
When the camera finds Cee Lo in this scene, he's wearing a shirt listing the names of all his original team members (Shields Brothers, what uppppp?). There will be many more blasts from the past tonight, though, as each finalist welcomes back some recently dismissed brothers- and sisters-in-arms. Jermaine brings out Pip , Jamar Rogers and James Massone in shiny gold smokers' jackets to sing “I Want You Back.” They all turn toward each other and shake hands upon stepping onstage, and it's kind of adorable.

KC Doctor Skeptical Of Supplement Featured On Dr. Oz
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A product touted for helping weight loss was recently recommended by Dr. Mahmet Oz on his television show, “Dr. Oz,” generated a lot of interest, but a Kansas City-area doctor said he wouldn’t recommend it.
“If Dr. Oz talks about it, you can guarantee within about a month or so, the manufacturer will be out of stock of that product,” said Laura Fleming of the Nature’s Own Health Market.
She said her store has seen so much interest in products seen on Dr. Oz that it has an entire shelf devoted to him.
“It’s wonderful because people who wouldn’t normally come into a health food store to get their products are coming in,” Fleming said.
She said the top item with shoppers right now is raspberry ketones, a product recently featured on the program .
Dr. James O’Keefe of St. Luke’s Hospital said it’s a natural compound found in raspberries.
“It turns out that ketones, in general, are something that suppress appetite a little bit,” O’Keefe said. “We normally make ketones when we reduce the carbohydrates in our diet a lot.”
They sell for $30 a bottle, but is the product worth it?
“I’ve been told by some customers that it has actually helped them,” said Fleming.
“Honestly, I’m a little skeptical of taking ketones as a supplement for weight loss, just because it can change your biochemistry around some,” O’Keefe said.

FOCUS Hamburger Concerto jazz music review by Chicapah
I’m not very knowledgeable about this band. You might say I’m somewhat out of focus. (Sorry, couldn’t help myself.) But a lot of folks whose opinions I respect think rather highly of them and I figured it was long past time for me to get more familiar with their music. To be brutally honest, other than harboring fond memories of the mind-bending, yodelistic stylings of their radio staple “Hocus Pocus” that sat prettily in FM’s heavy rotation in the mid 70s and a dubious wild night I had in Denver that involved one of the sides of their album “Moving Waves” playing on eternal repeat (a popular feature in those days) on a lithe and willing sirens’ turntable (a sobering tale of youthful debauchery that I elect to forgo telling for now), I’m but a neophyte guppy when it comes to these Dutch masters. Therefore when I spotted “Hamburger Concerto” taking up space in some used record bins recently I remembered that this platter is considered by many of their fans to be their best and decided to start my focused education at the top. Just to throw you off balance a tad they open with 1:12 of an air entitled “Delitiae Musicae,” an arrangement of a traditional song from days gone by (a fancy way of saying it’s a tune so old that no one has a clue as to which caveman came up with it and, thusly, no royalties need be paid).

Minn. Legislature struggles to find session’s end
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Legislature will stick around into May to try to reach agreement on tax breaks, state-financed construction projects and a Minnesota Vikings stadium plan.
Lawmakers conceded on Monday that they would not be able to meet a self-imposed deadline to adjourn by the end of April. They have the authority to meet for a few more weeks, but were hoping to wrap up early in an election year when all 201 seats are on the line.
Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton, who isn’t on the ballot this year, is pressing hard for deals, none more so than a proposed $975 million Vikings football stadium that would be built in Minneapolis.
Republicans who run the House and Senate said legislation giving tax breaks to businesses, homeowners and others was more critical to them. The sides met for a couple of hours Monday afternoon and agreed to reconvene later on. Floor sessions in both chambers that had been expected to go well past midnight adjourned in late afternoon, with plans to return Tuesday.
“I’ve encouraged them to stay as long as they need to,” Dayton said of pushing past Monday.
Sen. Julie Rosen, a leading lawmaker on the Vikings stadium bill, said the bill had to wait as talks continued on the tax proposal and a separate bill to finance other construction projects around the state.
